Premium Contact 6 Tyres description & features

The Continental PremiumContact 6 focuses on wet weather performance and cornering control in the design and construction of the tyre, as a summer season premium tyre. Continental’s Safety Silica Compound gives the tyre extra grip under wet weather conditions and maintains the summer season responsive feel. The PremiumContact 6’s tread design is asymmetric. The outer edge of the tyre features macro-block design shoulder elements. Continental’s Safety Silica Compound helps the inner edge of the PremiumContact 6 follow the road and has a water evacuation design. The PremiumContact 7 succeeded the 6 in the Continental range. Several variants feature noise cancelling, foam inner linings, and other variants feature a sealing, protective layer that prevents punctures. Select carefully from the beginning. The tyre is the most neglected vehicle part by drivers. Neglected tyres can lead to loss of grip while driving. The performance of the new tyres is great. Since they are the same as my original set, there is no difference in how I feel they handle. I first had them fitted on the front, but then moved them to the rear as front tyres tend to wear down more quickly. For safety reasons, it is recommended to have the "better" tyres on the back for improved handling. While I was getting the tyres changed, the mechanic told me that one of my wheels was bent, which was part of the reason it was difficult to balance. Getting that repaired took care of a minor steering wobble I had been feeling.

The wheels should be fine, but I've had to pump two of them and I've seen a bulge on the sidewall of one of them. I have been told that it's possible I hit a kerb or a pothole, but I am certain I haven't hit any kerbs, as it is almost impossible to avoid potholes. In all my 35 years of driving, I have never had a tyre bulge before, so I am not pleased that this has happened. The garage won't listen to me about the tyres, blaming it all on me, so I am now wondering why I have bothered spending further money on 'premium' tyres.

I chose Continental, and I can see a drop in my fuel consumption, although that could be due to the tracking since I had all four wheels adjusted. In the rain, my Continentals grip the road as well as my Toyos, which were really good, so that's great. I expected more in terms of looks considering the price and brand, so I was a little underwhelmed. I'll see how they wear before I decide to buy them again.

These tyres are of a lower quality than the previous ones I've purchased. I feel like the quality has dropped these tyres. I have driven less than I usually do and the tyres already seem more worn than normal. With regards to the terrible roads we have in the UK, I honestly expected the tyres to last longer than they are doing. If I have to replace the tyres more regularly, I could just buy cheaper tyres and that would make more sense.
