Mini Cooper Tyres

The Mini Cooper is an adaptable compact car, with design iterations that suit both urban driving and long-distance travel. Tyres on a Mini Cooper should help deliver a balanced drive with good wet grip, braking control, and an assist on the steering response. For an everyday urban drive, comfort and low noise with good rolling efficiency will suit best.

A Mini Cooper will have different tyre sizes across its generations, with different body styles and trims, different engines, and different spool options from the factory. Because of this, each Mini Cooper should have its tyre size carefully designated. The required size, load index, and speed rating can be found on the existing Tyre sidewall, on the vehicle handbook, or through its registration. Similar handling, comfort, and safety will be supported if these requirements are matched, while different steering response and tyre profile will be supported by different wheel options.

Mini Cooper drivers can use Tyres.co.uk to perform a quick and easy comparison of compatible tyre options based on brand, price, and performance. Tyres can then be booked for convenient local fittings.

Steering is more direct and has better grip, while stopping is also good.

Better traction of these tyres gives them better stopping distance. Previous tyres, of the same brand, had more than 2mm of tread, yet their stopping distance was clearly worse.

Hankook Ventus Prime 3 (K125)
Tyre review for Hankook Ventus Prime 3 (K125) 225/50R17
5.00/5
I bought these to replace my old ones from the same brand. The old set had good grip and lasted a long time. I changed them out before hitting the minimum legal tread depth because the car was getting a little unstable. I think this is more due to the chassis of the car being more sensitive than the actual tyres because the ride is stable again with the new set.

I completely agree with you. From the moment I got onto the road, it was noticeably more quiet and the grip was excellent. I was especially impressed with the usual wet conditions on the M8 where your brakes and tyres are pushed to the limit!

Buying Mini Cooper Tyres: Common Questions

Tyres.co.uk has Michelin Primacy 4 and Hankook Ventus Prime3 195/55 R16 87W as options for F56 3-Door Hatch Mini Coopers with 16" non-run flat wheels. Other packages may include different wheel sizes and may need XL or run flat tyres.

Mini Cooper tyre sizes can be found on a tyre pressure placard that is located on the driver side door. The placard lists approved tyres and their corresponding pressure ratings. Compare tyre sizes from the placard to sidewall registrations.

Front wheel drive Mini Coopers do not normally require full set replacement tyres, however tyres on the same axis must be replaced if there is greater than a 2 mm difference in tread depth. For the Mini Cooper ALL4, all four replacement tyres must be fitted to avoid damaging the transfer box. If only two new tyres are bought, they should be fitted to the rear axis.
