Winter Contact TS870 Tyres description & features

The Continental WinterContact TS 870 is a passenger car winter tyre designed for optimal performance in both wet and snowy conditions. The directional design helps with the tyre's ability to evacuate slush and water as the temperature drops. It features a Chili compound which remains flexible in the cold to improve braking on wet roads. Its unique Hydro Groove design works with the tread channels to quickly evacuate water. The braking performance on snow covered roads is improved with the SnowCurve+ technology which adds the capability to the tyre to hold some snow within the tread design. This model also features the 3PMSF marking which means this tyre meets the required standards for severe snow service.

The WinterContact TS 870 P is the option for higher performance vehicles in this range. Tyres.co.uk stocks the WinterContact TS 870.

Highlights

  • Directional tread clears slush and water
  • Flexible cold-weather compound
  • Snow grip with tread-held snow
  • Three-peak snowflake winter marking

Tyre review for Continental Winter Contact TS870 165/65R15
Was great. My region received close to a foot of snow, drifting on the roads and staying around for almost three weeks. The car was stable and had good grip on inclines, and didn't slip on fresh or packed snow. The only real issue was on ice, where it did slip a little, but it was still easy to control.

Tyre review for Continental Winter Contact TS870 215/55R16
These tyres are excellent in snow, mud, and slush. Just what I need to drive 50 miles each way on an icy and risky road every day. No tyres are good on ice, however, these do manage other winter obstacles very well to the point that I get to work when other people (including those who live much closer) cannot. I only use these in winter and I switch to more economical and rain friendly tyres in late March.

Tyre review for Continental Winter Contact TS870 215/55R16
These tyres are fantastic in snowy, muddy, and slushy conditions, just what I needed for my daily commute, which involves 50 miles each way on roads that become quite dangerous in winter. Although no tyre handles ice well, these manage other winter challenges excellently, often allowing me to reach work when others can't, even those who live much nearer. I use them only in winter, switching to more economical and rain-friendly tyres around late March.

Tyre review for Continental Winter Contact TS870 195/45R17
As expected, these are winter tyres, and I've been using them for the winter season. So far, they've done well, even in milder and drier winter conditions (when summer tyres usually do better), they have good grip. There hasn't been a whole lot of snow this season, but they've done well in the snow that we've had.

I see no negatives I believe these tyres helped me avoid a serious accident because they kept grip during a sudden stop on a wet road.

While I've yet to try them out on snowy roads, they look to be excellent for extreme cold and icy conditions.
