Reliability is one aspect of the Summer Touring Continental EcoContact 3, but sustainability is another. Driving every day produces an abundance of carbon. The EcoContact 3 is designed to minimise this by using a tread and casing which help to reduce the energy demand to keep the tyre rolling. It features a tread pattern which includes wide grooves running along the tread and channels that direct water away from where the tread meets the road. The EcoContact 3 includes fine slits throughout the tread, which increase the edges available for traction and braking on wet roads, and a tread pattern designed for uniform tread wear.
The EcoContact 3 is the predecessor for the Continental EcoContact 5. The EcoContact 5 increases the focus on wet-road safety balance with fuel efficiency even further. It features a similar low rolling resistance tyre design as the EcoContact 3 which strives to decrease fuel consumption in petrol cars and diesel cars, as well as in electric cars and e-vehicles, by improving the driving electric range.
