With a focus on cornering, the ContiPremiumContact 5 uses larger tread blocks on the outer edge, while the inner edge uses 3D tread to create a braking water dispersion effect. The ContiPremiumContact 5 is designed to maintain everyday ride comfort and help reduce road noise, by smoothing out the effect of small road imperfections.
According to Continental, the ContiPremiumContact 5 provides a 15% improvement in braking distance and a 20% improvement in rolling resistance over the previous generation. The ContiPremiumContact 5 is the predecessor to the PremiumContact 6. Some variants use the Continental SSR construction.
