The Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 uses the BlackChili Compound to shorten both wet and dry braking distances and lower rolling resistance. With a focus on cornering, the ContiPremiumContact 5 uses larger tread blocks on the outer edge, while the inner edge uses 3D tread to create a braking water dispersion effect. The ContiPremiumContact 5 is designed to maintain everyday ride comfort and help reduce road noise, by smoothing out the effect of small road imperfections.

According to Continental, the ContiPremiumContact 5 provides a 15% improvement in braking distance and a 20% improvement in rolling resistance over the previous generation. The ContiPremiumContact 5 is the predecessor to the PremiumContact 6. Some variants use the Continental SSR construction. So far, I have had no issues with the Continental Premium Contacts, and they are performing great. They appear to be lasting longer than the Dunlops or Goodyears I had previously. Hopefully, they will be as good as the original Bridgestones which were 24,000 miles on the back and 30,000 miles on the front.

Just like I remembered, but it's been pouring almost daily since they were put on! The only reason I swapped them was because they were getting old! The tread was about halfway worn, and the sidewalls were sun hardened rubber cracking from the sun. Once I get to up the mileage and properly break in the car, it'll start to pay off my investment.

The tyres are quite affordable and offer a good grip on the road, however, they seem to be softer than all the other tyres I've had before. I've driven less than 1500 miles and I've already had two punctures, both of which are dead centre of the tread. To help you understand, I've had to deal with this many punctures during my 45 years of driving. I could be unfortunate, but I think these tyres are less durable and have less resistance to punctures than any other tyres. Based upon this experience, I will not be buying Continentals again.
