Mercedes 220 Tyres

Mercedes 220 denotes a classic range of different generation models from Mercedes-Benz, producing saloon, coupé and cabriolet models during different eras. Mercedes 220 tyres must be tailored to the specific vehicle chassis and wheel configuration, providing stable road dynamics, reliable grip in the wet and better braking for stress-free driving, whether for short daily trips or for long journeys.

The different generations, body styles and engine variants and the factory installed wheel options mean that no one specification applies to all Mercedes 220 models. The correct tyres for a Mercedes 220 must be the same as the size, load index and speed rating for that specific model. The correct specification can be determined by checking the existing tyres side walls, the vehicle handbook and/or the vehicles registration details. The correct specification of tyres also gives the added benefits of comfort, minimal road noise and good performance in the wet.

Mercedes 220 owners can use Tyres.co.uk to select from the best value options and performance specifications for their tyres and can also book a local fitting at an affiliated garage. Safe and comfortable motoring is also provided, in full alignment with the original requirements of the vehicle, by the correct specification of Mercedes 220 tyres.

Better traction of these tyres gives them better stopping distance. Previous tyres, of the same brand, had more than 2mm of tread, yet their stopping distance was clearly worse.

These tyres are okay. It is not really about how long they will last, but the road dangers like potholes, nails, screws, and other crap that is the real issue.

They look similar to the budget tyres I have used previously. Perhaps they will last longer. My last cheap ones did 40,000 miles.

Mercedes 220 Tyres: Your Questions Answered

Tyres.co.uk lists the Michelin XVS in 185 HR15 and the Vredestein Sprint Classic in 185/80 VR15 for the Mercedes 220 W187. These products are suitable for the 185 R15 front and rear fittings allowed by Mercedes-Benz. Please check the specifications of the wheel, tyre construction, load and speed ratings against the records of the original vehicle prior to ordering.

Mercedes 220 W187 does not have a contemporary tyre information placard on the door jamb or fuel flap. Factory reference is the owner's manual, so check the handbook and sidewall markings of the tyres, then check the specification against the original wheel fitment of the car before ordering.

Typically, all four tyres don't need to be replaced on a Mercedes 220. The Mercedes 220 W187 is rear-wheel drive which means there is no four-wheel-drive version, but do replace tyres in pairs on the same axle where possible. If you are replacing two tyres, then UK safety guidance states that you should put them on the rear axle.
