Ecsta HS52 Tyres description & features

The Kumho Ecsta HS52 emphasises performance on wet roads with improvements to braking, steering and cornering. The unique design of the HS52 tread pattern allows the tyre to channel water from under the tread and through the grooves. The asymmetric pattern of the tread features 4 grooves running from the front to the rear of the tyre. The HS52 utilises Kumho’s 3D Block Design. The High Grip Resin compound enhances braking and cornering performance on both wet and dry roads.

The HS52 is the successor to the Ecsta HS51 on Kumho’s performance tyre line. The HS52 is available in a strengthened casing which is suitable for cars with higher load requirements and has speed ratings up to Y (186mph). Tyres.co.uk sells the reinforced XL versions of the Kumho Ecsta HS52.

These tyres are very long lasting on my Skoda Fabia. I bought a pair to change the originals that lasted about 80,000 miles in about 5 and a half years. They handle wet conditions excellent. These are default fit by Skoda and offer great value for money. Very happy with them.

Outstanding performance on my 2010 BMW E90 320d. They provide amazing grip and are perfect in the wet. They are really quiet and I have had no rear slip surprises. I used to have 225/50 16 wheels and tyres but changed to 17 inch wheels with 225/55 17 Kumho Ecsta HS52s for more comfort on our rough roads.

After almost 5000 miles in rain and shine, handling and grip are still excellent. For mid range tyres, they perform fantastically. I can't tell a lot of difference between these Kumho tyres and my old Continentals, but then again, I mostly drive in the city with a few motorway drives.

While selecting tyres, I considered the labels regarding tyre noise, economy and low noise. Since I now drive less and the manufacturer's suggested choices were rather expensive, I went to tyres that are a bit more economical. I am happy with these tyres because they are certainly a lot quieter than the previous Accelera ones on the front. The rear Michelin Primacy tyres which had done 35,000 miles since new were also replaced. I had a complete set fitted and I'm happy with the way the car is now.

I was really let down by the Goodyear EfficientGrip tyres I had before, especially considering the way they performed in wet conditions. The HS52s are amazing with more grip when cornering and better traction. They are better in every dry condition. The bad part is that they are a bit less comfy because they are less flexible, and they can be a bit louder, but not enough for it to be an issue. I will buy these tyres again for sure. The ones I bought are Chinese, not Korean.

The stability on the road is really good. The grip is really nice and the ride is more comfortable and it feels quieter. It is also better at handling various road types. I'll probably get another set for the front tyres before winter.
