Ford Transit Tyres

The Ford Transit is flexible and can carry out many jobs such as delivery and trade work as well as passenger transport. In such a diverse range of applications, the right Ford Transit tyre must be selected along with the right set of wheels. Low road noise, high control with reliable braking and wet weather grip are all critically important features of a Ford Transit tyre when completing long sections of A-road, urban work, and using the motorway.

Different versions of the Ford Transit have different requirements for the right set of tyres based on its length, roof height, engines, trim and even the factory wheels. To find the correct Ford Transit tyre size, load rating, and speed rating, look at the side of the tyre or the owner's manual. It is especially important to find the right load rating if the tyre will support a heavy load on a consistent basis.

Tyres.co.uk allows drivers to check and compare Ford Transit tyres by rating, price and brand. Professional installation is even offered at local garages.

Michelin Agilis CrossClimate
Tyre review for Michelin Agilis CrossClimate 215/75R16
5.00/5
Generally good performance with a strong grip in wet and dry conditions. Winter weather performance is far superior to that of summer tyres.

I have yet to test them in conditions that require additional grip. Nonetheless, the grip design provides a more comfortable and quieter ride.

I bought these for the second time because the first set lasted my car 4 years and 45,000 miles. They are quite and very good on countryside paths, Cornish lanes, and wet muddy fields. I've never been left stranded or lost traction. Very happy.

It might be early to give a thorough breakdown of these tyres' long term performance, but they seem to offer a better experience on the road. They are softer and I notice a drop in noise level while driving. I even think I've seen an increase in fuel efficiency, seeing as I average 4 mpg more on a recent trip to Wales.

Everything has gone well so far. The tyres have excellent grip and are nice and quiet.

Tyre review for Toyo Nano Energy Van 185/75R16
5.00/5
Even with my nearly 3-ton van, the motorway is very quiet. I'm very at ease with these tyres. The Avons also developed sidewall cracks after just a couple of years, but my oldest Toyos is 4 years old and still has no cracks. I always used to go Avons, but I've been very satisfied with these. Thanks.

Michelin Agilis 3
Tyre review for Michelin Agilis 3 215/65R16
4.00/5
The Michelin Agilis 3 tyres work exceptionally well in wet conditions and are excellent at managing high weight capacities. Personally, I carry a lot of tools and materials in my van and I would recommend these tyres. They are also very quiet when driving, so there is no noise.

The noise generated by these tyres is rather reasonable as they appear to be wearing in nicely. They also handle remarkably well and braking is quite effective.

Before You Buy Ford Transit Tyres: FAQ

Tyres.co.uk sells the Michelin Agilis 3 and Goodyear EfficientGrip Cargo 2 in 215/65 R16C 109/107T for 310-series vans as well as Ford factory fitments in 215/65 R16C 109T. Make sure to check the load and speed ratings on your registration as some series of the Transit may have different commercial-tyre specifications.

The tyre size for the Ford Transit is located on the tyre pressure placard which is found at the driver's door opening, on the B-pillar or on the edge of the door. It lists the approved tyre size, the load index, the tyre speed rating and pressure corresponding to axle load. Refer to your handbook and check the placard as the placard may not be primary evidence.

For a Ford Transit, it is not usually necessary to fit all four tyres. Tyres should be replaced on an axle to axle basis provided that all are of a matching size, construction, load rating, speed rating and so on. For dual axle fitments in the UK, it is recommended practice to fit the newer tyre on the rear axle. For AWD Ford Transits, all four tyres should be replaced when there is a significant difference in tread.
