Ford Cougar Tyres

The Ford Cougar is a two-door coupé designed for everyday use and longer motorway trips. It needs a specific type of rubber. Ford Cougar tyres must have a dependable grip when wet and give controlled braking. Trap the type and focus for a touring Ford Cougar and the ride should be comfortable, quiet and efficient.

Ford Cougar tyres don't have a universal fit. "Generation" and "model year" variations of a Cougar, as well as trim, engine and factory wheel options, mean there is no single fitment. For each model of Ford Cougar, the appropriate tyre must be sized correctly and meet or exceed load index and speed rating. A fitment that satisfies all of tyre requirements can usually be found by checking the existing tyre sidewall or registered details. For best comfort and safety it is recommended that you also check the vehicle operators handbook.

Tyres.co.uk allows Cougar owners to check out comparable tyres based on brand, price and performance. Cougars owners can then check the correct specifications and opt to purchase the tyres and have them fitted by a tyre technician booked to fit the tyres at a fitting location of their choice.

I replaced the two rear tyres after doing the front ones and one tyre from the front and back needs to be inflated every 6 to 8 weeks.

The front tyres will most likely need to be replaced soon, while the rears are about halfway worn. Traction in wet conditions is good and the wear seems to be what would be expected.

The existing tyres are doing an adequate job but my expectations for how long the front tyres would last were higher. Most of my driving is local, and there are a lot of roundabouts in this area.

Avon ZV7 tyres provide excellent performance on the wet country roads and the rainy weather where I drive. They help with fuel economy and last a long time before needing to be changed. I feel confident driving on them and plan to put them on the back of my car soon. They are great value for a mid-range tyre.

Better traction of these tyres gives them better stopping distance. Previous tyres, of the same brand, had more than 2mm of tread, yet their stopping distance was clearly worse.

Ordering Ford Cougar Tyres: FAQ

Tyres.co.uk lists the Continental UltraContact and the BFGoodrich Advantage for the Ford Cougar in the size of 205/60 R15 91V which will fit the factory 15-inch wheels. Other factory wheel options may require different fitments, so check the tyre size, load index, and speed rating in the registration search prior to ordering.

If you open the driver's door of the Ford Cougar, you will see a tyre-size and pressure placard located on the door frame. It will show the original specifications and recommended tyre pressures, but also check the sidewall of the tyre if the wheels/tyres have been replaced.

The Ford Cougar can have differing ages on its four tyres as there are no Cougar drivetrain versions with a fully coupled all-wheel-drive system that would require matched tyres on both front and rear axles. It is also a front-wheel drive vehicle. Therefore, when replacing tyres, do so in pairs on the same axle when feasible, and when replacing tyres on one axle, the pair should be fitted to the rear axle.
