KC53 Tyres description & features

The Kumho KC53 is specifically designed for the high demands of delivery work. It has three grooves that run lengthwise to channel water away. The ribbed tread design supports uniform wear and retention of rubber through the centre. The KC53 features a reinforced carcass to support the demands of commercial transport. The ribbed blocks have been sipped to improve traction on wet road surfaces.

Kumho also markets this tyre as the PorTran KC53, which you may see in tyre size listings. Some sizes have a dual load index, meaning they will have two load index numbers on the sidewall for single and double wheel use, and will feature M+S markings. The Kumho KC53 is available from Tyres.co.uk.

Perfectly correct. All of the improvements have made cars quieter and provide an overall better driving experience. I feel the most confidence I have ever had by being able to connect more to the road, and not just feel like I am floating on top of it.

Overall, I'm impressed with the tyres. Although I find them slightly lacking in regards to traction for quick wet road acceleration, they perform well in traction. For example, they can easily spin if trying to join the road traffic quickly! Still, they remain consistent with braking on wet surfaces. The rare occasions where an abrupt stop is required do not engage the abs.

It is hard to provide a detailed opinion for these tyres as I have fitted them to a motorhome and they have not covered much distance yet. However in the couple of hundred miles driven they have seemed fine, albeit the weather has been dry.

Having good traction and being quiet make these tyres pretty good value. I have noticed the front tyres on my VW Transporter Shuttle seem to wear on the inner and outer edges more than the others. To try and fix this, I have increased the PSI. I kept the same PSI before on older tyres, and didn't have this problem. I guess we will see how it goes in a few months with this change.

My previous tyres were Michelin Agilis. These tyres may not have the same level of grip as the Michelins in wet or dry conditions, but they are perfectly adequate, and are lasting a lot longer than the Michelins did, and for a significantly lower price. I will certainly buy them again as they are a very good value. If you have a work van that you drive like a race car, these probably aren't for you.
