Eagle F1 (Asymmetric 3) Tyres description & features

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 is a summer tyre designed for optimum performance during braking and cornering on both dry and wet surfaces. Goodyear’s Grip Booster Technology is critical for the adhesive quality of the tyre, giving the rubber greater ability to grip the road. A performance-oriented asymmetric pattern features large outer cornering blocks with inner water-shedding longitudinal grooves. Goodyear’s Active Braking Technology is used to optimise the braking contact area of the tyre.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is a successor of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 within Goodyear's summer performance tyre lineup. Other tyres within the lineup are available in XL (extra load) construction and run-flat versions. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 (including run-flat and XL versions) are available for purchase on Tyres.co.uk.

I have been fitting these tyres to my Jag XF for some time and they have proven themselves. One night, on an unlit country lane with dipped headlights and doing over 50 mph, a cow appeared out of nowhere and was standing right in front of me! There was no time to react, so I swerved the wheel all the way to the right to dodge it, and then to the left to stay on my side. The car remained perfectly under control all the way through and the cow and my passengers remained unharmed!

Tyres perform stopping on dry pavements perfectly. I haven't tested them stopping on wet pavements due to summertime. Stopping is really quiet, meaning on corners they grip well so I'm really pleased with them.

The car drives really well, and is a lot quieter. I didn't experience any problems driving through heavy rainfall. These are fitted to the front of a BMW330d. I would have preferred the Michelins, but because they were out of stock, I took the Goodyears and so far, they have been really good. Time will tell how long they last, but the front tyres don't usually wear out quickly.

Compared to the previous ones, these tyres are definitely quieter and better for fuel economy. I got them in April '24, and it's late July '24 now, and I can say that the Goodyear Asymmetric tyres are a pretty large step up from the recommended (which weren't bad) Bridgestone Potenza tyres. I've replaced all four tyres and I'm really happy with them.

I have yet to encounter really difficult conditions with these tyres and so far they have performed brilliantly. My car is over 300bhp, rear-wheel drive, and is typically in its sportier settings with the traction control turned down. The grip, handling and longevity have been more than adequate.
