Tyre review for Goodyear UltraGrip Performance G1
265/45R20The MX5 is not regarded as a powerful car, however, its handling is very well balanced and is very responsive to the type of tyres used so I was a little worried about the transition from summer Michelins to the latest winter Gen1s by Goodyear. First impression was good as they are more comfortable than the Michelins which were very responsive, and they are quiet which is an added bonus. Now that the tyres are settled in I can start to gauge the grip limits and I feel very confident when negotiating slippery and cold roundabouts. Initially, the steering response may feel a little slower, but the car still feels very agile and balanced, I have not messed around with pressure adjustments. I have not been able to test them in snow, but they handle standing water well. They offer stable traction on ice, and I have always felt safe travelling on ice. Overall, I can recommend the new tyres without a doubt.
