EfficientGrip Compact Tyres description & features

The Goodyear EfficientGrip Compact summer tyre incorporates design features to decrease rolling resistance and improve grip and water clearance. It is equipped with neighbouring double grooves to reduce water contact, and a new base layering technology to reduce energy dissipation and rolling resistance offers a measurable decrease in fuel consumption. The tyre also uses a new rubber compound designed for grip on wet roads.

The new design on the tyre casing increases stiffness and is combined with Goodyear's new wear-resistant compound for improved mileage. Wet braking technology integrates the new compound and the pattern designed to clear water from the road surface in the same tread design. Outstanding grip in both wet and dry conditions. Fuel consumption appears to be reasonable too. I had Avon ZT5s for years and I used to say they had decent fuel economy, but they didn't grip as well as the Goodyears. The Goodyear tyres have transformed the handling of my car. They came off a set of cheap Laufenn tyres that my garage fitted for the MoT. Those tyres were awful, providing no feedback, even when dry. It's a frequently stated but cheap tyres are a false economy, especially in the UK where it rains a lot.

These are a big step up from the Michelin Energy Savers I used to have. I can definitely tell they are quieter, and they give me the confidence to take corners at speed in both dry and wet conditions. The grip and braking have noticeably improved. I can't say anything about fuel efficiency or how long they will last yet since I've only had them for a few weeks.

So far everything is good. The grip and noise levels seem to have improved. I haven't noticed any difference in fuel consumption and I guess we will have to wait and see how long they will last. The service from the fitting centre was great. Thank you to Simon for his brilliant insight on the technology and safety, even though he was very busy.

Chose to change my tyres even though the old ones had 3mm of tread left thinking there wouldn't be much of a difference since I stuck with the same ones. However, immediately driving off, I could tell the steering was lighter, and the drive was smooth and comfy, especially over bumpy roads. Glad to switch.

Even though my old tyres weren't worn down they were cheap and pretty outdated. With my new tyres, steering feel and grip has improved noticeably, especially when the weather is wet and cold. Now the car understeers less, and responds better when I change speed during a turn. I'm impressed with these tyres, but I still haven't had the time to monitor fuel economy or how long they last.
