The Goodyear UltraGrip Performance 2 is designed to quickly clear standing water or slush and retain steering responsiveness due to the stability of the tread blocks. V-TRED Technology uses a directional V arrangement of main grooves that guide slush and water away from the centre of the tyre. Meanwhile, 3D-BIS Technology uses an interlocking Nebraska formation throughout the tread that opens to bite into snow. Once the interlocking slits have engaged, they reinforce the tread design on dry or firm road surfaces.
The UltraGrip Performance Gen-1 replaced this model in 2015. This model also includes the XL construction which denotes a reinforced sidewall construction for that model’s specific high load vehicles. Also available is the run-flat construction which allows the tyre to be supported temporarily after a loss of air.
