The Goodyear Duramax Steel is designed as a robust all-season commercial tyre that will serve well for the duration of its useful life. It is constructed with steel belt plies under the tread and sidewall reinforcements to help the tyre casing cope with the stresses of regular commercial use. The steel belt plies distribute the load over the tyre's tread, while the sidewall reinforcements help the sidewalls cope with the repeated flexing of commercial use. Goodyear's innovative tread design employs deep grooves to evacuate water from the surface of the tread, and multiple fine slits (or microedges) on the individual tread blocks increase traction in adverse weather.
