Goodyear UltraGrip Performance G1 is a state-of-the-art winter tyre with an emphasis on traction on snowy and cool, damp roads. The tyre uses a directional tread pattern and a winter rubber compound designed to fall and stay pliable in lower temperatures. The UltraGrip Performance G1 uses Goodyear’s Winter Grip Technology, a specific resin blend geared to stay pliable in low temperatures. SnowProtect Technology forms closely spaced tread blocks to create biting edges for forcible driving and stopping on snowy surfaces.

The 3PMSF marking on the sidewall indicates approval of the tyre for the recognised severe-snow performance standard. An option with reinforced XL construction is available for the transportation of heavier loads. Hydrodynamic Grooves (channels aimed to direct water and slush away from the contact area) allow the tyre to maintain a good level of stability and control on snowy and damp roads, preventing aquaplaning. I bought winter tyres for the first time this year, and after driving them for about 1000 miles across Scotland and northern England on a combination of motorways, A roads, and local roads, I am happy with my purchase. The tyres are nice and quiet, and I was happy to see that the fuel efficiency with these winter tyres are on par with my summer tyres. The tyres also provide good traction on the frosty and wet conditions. I also drove through a snow-covered car park in the Cairngorms without any trouble. Would recommend.

Enormous improvement. These tyres were very well reviewed as winter options, as well as for cold weather overall. Immediately after putting them on, I noticed a big improvement in traction, even with my current 'standard' Michelins having lots of tread. I intend to replace them once it gets warm and am optimistic they will hold up for quite a while. I feel more safe driving with these on the car.

I'm very satisfied with these tyres. Although I was reluctant to spend this much money, I have ended up with a set of tyres that gives me a really good level of handling in both wet and dry conditions, even though they are winter tyres.

These tyres deal with cold and wet roads better than the Pirelli winter tyres I've previously owned, and they're better than my Continental summer tyres. They are also peaceful and overall the most comfy run flats I've been on. I haven't tried them in snow though.

Although M+S tyres are a little bit noisier while on the road than summer tyres, the extra grip they provide in poor weather makes them a worthwhile choice.

The tyres' tread depth and pattern give them great dry handling. They also provide confidence with standing water and excel with grip in wet conditions, even through quick corners. I haven't tested them in snow yet, but I think it will be fine.

I had concerns that winter tyres would drive differently, but I really haven't noticed much difference in feel with the transition from Continentals summer tyres.

As a rear-wheel drive car owner, and with Scotland's winters as well as range of other seasons, winter tyres are a must, so I fitted them straight away. The improvement in handling is now a lot more predictable, the braking distance is also very similar to how it is in summer, and the grip is as expected. Since I'm a Touring owner and I tend to have heavy loads, I went for the reinforced sidewalls.
