P Zero (PZ4) Tyres description & features

The Pirelli P Zero (PZ4) features summer performance based on separate tread designs for Sports Cars and Luxury Saloons. The PZ4 has outer edge blocks that help with cornering rigidity. The PZ4 has three central solid ribs and three rear transverse grooves that aid in water dispersion and help with braking and acceleration. Pirelli’s PZ4 uses the company’s high-speed nanocomposite.

Some Pirelli PZ4’s have Porsche’s N0 and BMWs star mark on their sidewalls. These marks are a requirement when replacing original-equipment tyres. Noise in the cabin is reduced on the Pirelli PZ4’s that utilise the PNCS by the use of sound absorbing materials that are fixed inside the tyre. The Run Flat versions are said to have the ability to travel up to 80 km with a maximum speed of 80 km/h. Tyres.co.uk has the Pirelli P Zero (PZ4) and their Run Flat and PNCS versions.

I haven't tried any other tyres on this vehicle, and although these Pirelli tyres are good, the manufacturer recommends these tyres. However, as my car is a Quattro, these are AO marked and not RO1s. Next, I may choose Dunlop SP QuattroMaxx as they appear to be the recommended RO1s. Even with OEMs, it's a must to rotate your tyres, and for Quattro or 4WD systems, a diagonal swap pattern is recommended.

I really regret putting these tyres on my car. They don't perform well at all, spinning too easily even when the road's dry, plus they don't do much to help you feel safe when it's wet. They seem to be really fragile too, being easily damaged on small bumps in the road, potholes, low kerbs and speed bumps. I should have gone with Dunlops again, they're way better.

I am very happy with the performance of these tyres. They really do grip the road well in all conditions, dry and wet. They also very comfortable with a very low amount of road noise. I rotate the front and back tyres every 7000 to 8000 miles, so about once a year, and I am hopeful that they will last me 25,000 miles, if not longer.

When driving in the rain, the Accelera tyres were silent, however, they were not the best for steering and braking. There is a little noise, but, it is not unpleasant, and it feels as if you are on a train. You can go full throttle on roundabouts and not feel insecure at all. Pedal response is also great. Overall, amazing tyres.

Considering the state of the roads and all the potholes, I doubt they would be a good fit. Also, they look a little low on air. To top it all off, the people who put P Zeros on damaged the wheel paint.

The all-season tyres give adequate grip when summer months hit, especially with larger vehicles such as Teslas. In my experience, it has also helped with wet and even wintry weather when driving light snow/slush. It is astonishing how well a summer tyre can perform and the all-season tyres should last a reasonable time.

Having fitted several of these tyres to my Audi A6 V6 Quattro, I can say that I am impressed. As a manufacturer of brake discs for Italian motorbikes, I understand the importance of good brakes and tyres. There is absolutely no compromise when it comes to safety. I can always appreciate the Pirellis because they give me confidence on the road!

The Audi AO approval means they have done testing on these tyres and found them to meet their standards. Therefore, I expected the tyres to perform well, and after using them, I can say that they do perform well. However, I do not think that cheaper tyres that perform the same are worth it.
