Powergy Tyres description & features

Pirelli Powergy's summer passenger car and SUV tyres revolve around their ability to develop maximum braking force on damp surfaces. As well as this, they can remove water from the contact patch rapidly when the weather is warm. The Powergy features an asymmetric design with three wide straight channels from the front to the back. These design elements also feature a wide array of small slits and channels to improve braking and grip on wet surfaces. The outside edge is designed to stabilise the tyre through cornering.

The Powergy was designed to improve the energy used to roll the tyre, thanks to its low rolling resistance. XL construction is also offered, which is used to strengthen the sidewalls on vehicles with a higher load demand. You can find the Pirelli Powergy on Tyres.co.uk.

Highlights

  • Asymmetric tread with three wide channels
  • Small slits for wet grip
  • Stable outer edge for cornering

Tyre review for Pirelli Powergy 255/35R20
The first thing I noted was the absence of wheel spin when pulling away, which highlights just how terrible my old tyres were. There is also a lot less noise from the road, which is nice.

I bought Pirelli tyres because they had a good rating for being quiet on the road, and were the most silent option available on Tyres.co.uk. I'm glad to say they are quieter than my old tyres.

Tyre review for Pirelli Powergy 215/40R17
I typically go for Continental tyres and will continue to do so when buying my next set. Pirelli tyres do not compare. There's a lot of understeer in dry conditions, so that's a serious problem. Pirelli really needs to improve. I found them to be overpriced and quite a letdown, given that I expected a premium product from that brand.

While less impressive than the Michelin ePrimacy they replaced, they are more affordable. Fuel economy is not as good, but in general they are noiseless and good in terms of driveability and wet grip.

First of all, tracking was checked both when the tyres were fitted and when they were changed, and it was in the accepted range. These tyres are great for grip and confidence on the wet. However, they do wear quite quickly. After 14 months, I had only 4mm of tread left, so I went for Michelins instead.

These tyres might lack extravagant features, but they do exactly what is required, which is more impressive than it sounds. I wanted tyres that would provide a smoother ride, greater comfort and less noise, so I am happy to say these do all that. I've never had a problem with them, they've made light work of heavy rain and the price was great.

Tyre review for Pirelli Powergy 215/55R18
These tyres provide excellent value for money, with great grip in both dry and wet conditions. I haven't experienced any slipping while driving within speed limits. Cornering is great with only slight loss of grip when moderately accelerating on straight roads and this improves when the tyres are warm. The price is also fair but the difference from this to the cheaper alternatives is not justified in full. I would however, choose to stay with a trusted brand like Pirelli as I do not risk it with tyres.
