The Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyre has been created to enhance performance for electric vehicles with some unique specifications. Unlike traditional vehicles, electric vehicles have instantaneous torque which makes acceleration much quicker. Combined with their heavier weight, this results in a very different driving experience, leading to potentially high levels of cabin noise. As traditional tyres struggle to keep up with EVs during rapid acceleration, Chef Michelin's solution was to include an innovative material - ElectricGrip Compound - in the centre tread of the tyre. Michelin's asymmetric tread and channel grooves help provide rigidity while cornering and rapid acceleration, as well as assist in tyre drainage. Shoulders of the tyre are made with Michelin's Green Power Compound, helping to minimise the loss of energy while the tyre rolls.
The Michelin Pilot Sport EV also minimises cabin noise thanks to Michelin's Acoustic Technology which uses a foam layer in the casing. Depending on the model, the tyre also comes with a reinforced construction for larger Electric Vehicles. Tyres.co.uk stock the Michelin Pilot Sport EV Acoustic version as well.
