The Michelin Pilot Sport EV DT has been designed as a high-performance summer tyre for electric vehicles, specifically for accommodating the unique challenges the instant torque and battery weight of electric vehicles present when designing and engineering a tyre. Michelin’s ElectricGrip Compound features in the centre of the tread, and is a firmer mix of rubber that will grip the road under acceleration. The outer tread blocks feature Michelin’s GreenPower Compound, which due to its unique formulation, lowers rolling resistance, which in turn enhances the driving range of the vehicle. Acoustics technology from Michelin has been used in the DT to reduce resonance in the cabin, and Michelin claims this reduces cabin noise by 20%. Michelin also claims, based on internal testing, that the Pilot Sport EV range of tyres can, when compared to competitor products, extend driving range by 60 km. Michelin Pilot Sport EV DT tyres also feature reinforced XL construction when this is indicated on the sidewall, which means these versions are made for higher load applications.
