Pilot Sport Cup 2 Tyres description & features

The summer tyre, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, is designed to be race ready yet road legal. With the help of an asymmetric tread pattern and inner/outer differentiation, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 is built for quick and easy repetition of dry laps on the track. With Michelin’s Bi-Compound technology, the outer tread half contains high-molecular-chain elastomers to enhance cornering grip on dry surfaces. Michelin’s Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology comes into play with the tyre’s unique tread design as it assists the Pilot Sport Cup 2 evenly distribute contact pressure during braking and cornering. The tyre’s casing is designed to reinforce the tread to protect it during high stress braking and cornering.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2 was designed to be track ready and road legal with some sizes containing the Porsche N0 marking on the sidewall to show they were designed under Porsche’s specifications. Others contain the K1 marking which is Ferrari’s approval. These specially marked variations were made to match the specifications of the tyre for those cars. At Tyres.co.uk, we provide the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 245/35R20
I read some great reviews and decided to buy some Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tyres for my road-legal track car, a Mazda RX8. These tyres offer great dry road handling and responsiveness just like other ultra-high-performance tyres that I have experienced. I won't be testing these tyres on wet roads and I suspect that they may not perform will on wet roads based on my assumption of their tread design. On the track these tyres excel. I specifically compared these tyres Cup2s with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports and noted a small but confident improvement in stability and grip. I would track recommend track use.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 305/30R20
My main use for these tyres is sprints and track days. When it comes to dry weather conditions, they are absolutely superb, however, when it comes to wet or damp conditions, I fear the risk too much when I am pushing my Porsche Cayman S to the limit. On average roads, they are decent but I am considering going for something a bit more durable next time, maybe a Pirelli Trofeo.

Great in a bit of rain, rubbish when it's pouring - but truly amazing on warm dry days.

Doesn't grip the road as well when wet, but does great when the road is dry.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 255/35R20
These tyres are excellent in a dry climate, and ideal for driving on tracks. On the other hand, they do not work very well on the road when it is wet. Driving can be challenging because even at low speeds, you can experience aquaplaning, so please stay careful. Because of the dry grip, I purchased these tyres, and they did not disappoint. For a tyre lifespan of 4000 miles, they certainly are soft.

Amazing. These are the best tyres on the market. Their grip is phenomenal and their ride is more comfortable than other performance brands. I can't rate the Cup 2's highly enough.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 325/30R20
Michelin Cup 2 provides incredible performance on dry conditions and if you're cautious, they do fine in the wet as well. The only downside is that they come with 5.5mm of tread, so if you're using your tyres like most, you'll be replacing them often. However, given the remarkable grip and handling, especially in difficult conditions, the price is justified.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 305/30R20
The sidewalls definitely feel softer than my previous Bridgestones which makes the ride a lot more comfortable and smooth. Grip is significantly better, roughly 20% better. Grip when wet is about the same as it was before the Bridgestones. I'm not sure about the wear rate just yet, but because the starting tread depth is shallower than the Bridgestones, I expect that it won't last as long as the Bridgestones.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 255/35R19
The new tyres have improved the overall handling of the car on the road. I used to have Toyo R888Rs, which are dry only, so I have been very limited in my driving during the rain. With the move to the Cup 2s I have much more confidence in the car when it's wet. Cornering and traction are both excellent, and I can't wait to see how they hold up on a track day at the end of the month.

While I have yet to try these on track, I can already tell these will provide a great feel and comfort in dry conditions. Road use, in particular, is where these will show their performance. I plan on tracking them and testing the performance there soon.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 265/35R20
While the material is quite soft, it performs brilliantly on dry surfaces. Just take caution when it comes to surfaces that are wet as the materials also provide a superior grip but they can also overheat quite easily.

Perfect performance for a sports car! Grip is phenomenal on dry roads! Of course, track-ready tyres won't perform as well in wetter conditions, but I won't change them for anything! Easily the best I have had.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 325/30R20
Once they warm up, they are incredible. They tend to follow the grooves of the road more than other tyres I have used, but given their performance and grip, that is a small downside. They are also fairly good in the wet once they warm up.

Tyre review for Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 325/30R21
I have used four sets of the Cup 2 tyres. Every year, I do about 2,500 track kilometres at different locations including CTMP, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, VIR, Atlanta, and Daytona. I always feel confident with these tyres and on average, I use two sets a year. I am able to keep up with people who use slicks.
