Low-rolling-resistance summer tyres that are developed for passenger vehicles are the Michelin e.Primacy E1. Michelin’s Energy Passive Compound reduces flexing heat and when the compound rolls, reduces the energy loss. Michelin’s MaxTouch Construction creates an even wear pattern by spreading the forces of braking, acceleration and cornering throughout the tread. This tyre, along with natural rubber, has recycled carbon black and recycled steel. These materials complement Michelin’s 45% sustainable-material content.
The e.Primacy reduces fuel consumption by 0.21 litres per 100 km compared to four main competitors when tested for rolling resistance. Michelin introduced the e.Primacy in 2021, and it was then the first carbon-neutral tyre at the time of sale, as the total emissions were offset for the tyre’s life span.
