CrossClimate Tyres description & features

The Michelin CrossClimate is an all-season tyre that has a summer tyre base with some winter elements. The tyre features 3PMSF snow certification with a directional V-shaped tread with winter snow traction. The tread has V-shaped grooves that are paired with a V-shaped block pattern that helps push water/snow/slush away. The winter block pattern is also used with 3D sipes which are self-locking in winter use, providing support to the tread on summer/ dry roads.

The CrossClimate is advertised as the first summer/ 3PMSF snow certified tyre by Michelin on its launch in 2015. Certified summer/ winter traction/certification means that the tyre has been tested and certified to meet the requirements of summer/winter use. The XL models feature a summer block design but with a stronger casing to support the increased load. The original model was replaced with the CrossClimate+ in 2017. Tyres.co.uk has a selection of Michelin CrossClimate.

I bought these so I would not have to keep swapping between summer and winter tyres and so far they have been spot on. Grip in the wet is very good and they were fine on the cold mornings we had. Road noise is low and the car feels settled on the motorway. Happy with them overall.

These Journey WR301 tyres have been excellent. My confidence in driving doubles due to grip in dry and wet conditions. I have over 10,000 miles on these and there is still plenty of tread left and they still look great.

The grip has really improved now, even on very slippery surfaces. Although the majority of the roads in this area are narrow and poorly constructed, the tyres handle the wet conditions superbly.

These tyres handle flooding and wet weather exceptionally well. In terms of short icy weather spells, they've also done well. However, I have yet to test them in prolonged cold or icy weather. They seem to grip the road well and I'm quite happy. I was a bit unsure of the price but at the end of the day, I'm happy.

Previously, my car had Michelin Primacy Sport tyres. CrossClimates are just as good, if not better, in dry conditions. Better yet, in adverse conditions, CrossClimates perform optimally. These factors make them a superb option.

Since they were fitted two weeks ago, I've not been able to test these tyres in wet or snowy conditions as it has been dry the whole time. I can't say I feel much difference when driving on the motorway, but that is probably my Ford Ka, which always feels like a go-kart in cross winds, regardless of the tyres. Still, they've been reasonably priced and should last a good while considering the amount I drive. I'm looking forward to the colder months to see how they perform in the rain and snow.

Regardless of whether the conditions are wet or dry, they are capable of imprecise performance. I have yet to try this on icy or snowy roads. The new tread depths seem to be less than 8mm while my previous Dunlop winter tyres had a tread depth of 9mm so I hope to these show good tread wear.

The steering feels heavier and less precise than with my last summer tyres, the Michelin's, when the road is dry. However, when it rains, steering feels more responsive and lighter. The tyres have great grip in dry and wet conditions. A little more road noise can be heard but it is not that distracting. Tyre wear is something that I can comment on as it is still early.

I've used these tyres in the rain, ice, and snow and there has been a noticeable improvement with the handling of precipitation and snow. I felt the car was safe and reliable to drive in the snow and I had good control with starting and stopping. Overall, driving is much more enjoyable.

Great performance! I got 66,000 miles on them, and they still had 5mm left on the tread. Just a little bit frustrated, however, the old 16 inch set cost me £300 and these 17 inch ones cost me £600.

Prioritising safety, I bought these for my daughter's small Seat Mii. They were bound to manage rain and puddles better than the old Continental SportContacts they replaced. I was worried about them being rough and noisy because of the high load rating for a car this light, but they're actually quiet and comfortable with lots of grip.

They can be used in all types of weather, but they do not quite reach the fuel efficiency of the Michelin energy savers despite reviewers believing they would. I have seen a drop in fuel economy from 58mpg to 54mpg.
