Primacy 5 Energy Tyres description & features

The Michelin Primacy 5 Energy is a summer tyre with features for passenger cars, designed to reduce rolling resistance. Michelin's Energy Passive Compound is a blend of rubber and materials that reduce tyre rolling resistance by minimising energy loss as heat. EvertGrip Technologies aid in tyre drainage as the surface wear through the use of tread patterns and water-clearing channels. Compared to the Primacy 4+, the Primacy 5 Energy can clear 50% more water.

Primacy 5 Energy has Michelin's Silent Rib Gen 3 technology, which shapes the ribs of the tyre to reduce the noise and the air turbulence created when the tread ribs make contact with the road. Compared to the Primacy 4+, the Primacy 5 Energy reduces rolling resistance by 5%. Michelin also produces a reinforced, higher load version of the Primacy 5 Energy, which is denoted by the sidewall marking XL. You can conveniently purchase the Michelin Primacy 5 Energy at Tyres.co.uk.

I drive an estate and can say that there is more road noise with the back seats folded down compared to when they are up. The new tyres have clearly decreased the noise levels.

Avoiding a definitive viewpoint is understandable and speak for themselves, they appear to be quiet and handle well in the wet. Good fuel economy was achieved on a long journey with the 1.5tsi SUV reaching 60mpg.

Tyre review for Michelin Primacy 5 Energy 215/50R18
I chose these tyres as I liked the Primacy 4+ that I had tried on another car. Since these are fitted to the back of the car, I can't comment too much on the handling, but after 2000 miles, they are still tracking well and gripping the road. There is no wear to be seen yet. What is Refreshingly fuel efficiency improved with these tyres. Just by changing two I have seen a gain of 1-3 miles per gallon! The biggest positive is the noise reduction of the tyres. My car doesn't have a rear parcel shelf, so noise enters the cabin easily, but these tyres have made it a lot better. They aren't the cheapest tyres but they are worth it. I will be buying the same ones for the front when they need changing. Booking and paying through Tyres.co.uk was easy, and the garage that fitted them was great and very helpful.

Tyre review for Michelin Primacy 5 Energy 215/55R18
I've only done about 1600 miles with these tyres and they've made me feel more safe already. Plus, they should give slightly more mileage than the Pirelli's I had before and the Yokohama's I temporarily used on the rear. The only downside is that they don't self seal, so I ended up buying a spray can as backup.

Tyre review for Michelin Primacy 5 Energy 215/55R18
Visually, the tyres are great, but they can be very noisy on the motorway and the ride is hard, and I was disappointed to find that they arrived with only 7mm of tread depth when new!
