The summer tyre, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, is designed to be race ready yet road legal. With the help of an asymmetric tread pattern and inner/outer differentiation, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 is built for quick and easy repetition of dry laps on the track. With Michelin’s Bi-Compound technology, the outer tread half contains high-molecular-chain elastomers to enhance cornering grip on dry surfaces. Michelin’s Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology comes into play with the tyre’s unique tread design as it assists the Pilot Sport Cup 2 evenly distribute contact pressure during braking and cornering. The tyre’s casing is designed to reinforce the tread to protect it during high stress braking and cornering.
The Pilot Sport Cup 2 was designed to be track ready and road legal with some sizes containing the Porsche N0 marking on the sidewall to show they were designed under Porsche’s specifications. Others contain the K1 marking which is Ferrari’s approval. These specially marked variations were made to match the specifications of the tyre for those cars.
