Since 2012, standardised labels showing three key performance metrics have been required on tyres sold in the UK and EU. These labels assist in tyre comparison before making a purchase.

Label performance metrics

• Fuel Efficiency - Rolling resistance impacts the fuel consumption. Less fuel is consumed by A-rated tyres.
• Wet Grip - A tyre that is rated A will stop in the shortest distance.
• External Noise - A wave rating is shown for visual comparisons. A quieter tyre will have a lower number.
