Make it a habit to check your tyre pressure at least monthly, and before embarking on a long trip, or carrying heavy loads in your car. It takes only a few minutes, either at a petrol station or using a home pressure gauge, and can greatly improve your safety as well as reduce your running costs.

Why is it important to check your tyre pressure monthly?

With normal permeation, tyres will lose about 1 to 2 PSI on average every month. Due to seasonal changes in temperature, tyre pressure will vary. Without checking your tyre pressure regularly, you will run the risk of driving on tyres that are significantly under-inflated and not even be aware of it.

Don't depend just on the TPMS

Your car may be equipped with a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This is useful for detecting under-inflation. However, TPMS only issues a warning once the pressure is at 25 percent below the recommended level. This means that the tyre is significantly under-inflated. Therefore, it is recommended that you do regular manual checks.
