Why matching is more important on motorcycles

The front and rear tyres of a motorcycle are engineered to function together as a cohesive unit. The front tyre is responsible for precise steering and initial braking, while the rear tyre is in charge of traction, acceleration, and stability. Because of this, different brands have different grip characteristics, differing compressibility of the rubber, and differences in handling.

Best practices

• Use the same brand and range for both the front and rear tyres
• If you must mix brands, make sure that both tyres are suitable for your motorcycle in terms of size and type
• Unless stated otherwise by the manufacturer, do not mix radial and crossply tyres on the same motorcycle
