What does TPMS stand for?

TPMS explained

TPMS stands for Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It is an electronic safety system that monitors the air pressure inside your tyres and alerts you via a warning light on your dashboard if the pressure in any tyre drops below a safe level.

Is TPMS required by law?

Yes. TPMS has been a legal requirement on all new cars sold in the EU and UK since November 2014. If your vehicle was built after this date, it will have TPMS fitted as standard. Many vehicles manufactured before this date also have the system installed.

What does the warning light look like?

The TPMS warning light is typically an exclamation mark inside a cross-section of a tyre. When it illuminates, it means at least one tyre has dropped significantly below the recommended pressure and should be checked and reinflated as soon as possible.
