What are tubeless tyres?

Tubeless tyres explained

Tubeless tyres seal directly against the wheel rim without needing a separate inner tube. The air is held between the tyre and the rim itself.

Are my car tyres tubeless?

Almost certainly yes. Virtually all modern car tyres are tubeless. This has been the standard for decades.

Advantages

  • Safer punctures — If you pick up a nail or screw, a tubeless tyre loses air slowly rather than deflating instantly, giving you more time to react safely
  • Lighter weight — No inner tube means slightly less weight, improving fuel efficiency and handling
  • Less heat build-up — Without friction between tube and tyre, there is less heat generated at speed
