What are pneumatic tyres?

Pneumatic tyres

A pneumatic tyre is simply a tyre that is filled with compressed air. The air inside the tyre supports the vehicle's weight, absorbs road imperfections, and provides the flexibility needed for grip.

Virtually all car, van, motorcycle and bicycle tyres are pneumatic. The alternative, a solid tyre, is only used on specialised vehicles such as forklifts, some lawnmowers and certain industrial equipment where puncture resistance is more important than ride comfort.
