How do I read tyre pressure label stickers?

Reading your tyre pressure sticker

Most vehicles have a tyre pressure information sticker located on the inside edge of the driver's door frame or occasionally on the fuel filler flap.

What the sticker shows

  • Front and rear pressures — The recommended pressure for front tyres may differ from the rear
  • Normal and full load settings — Two pressure figures are usually shown. Use the normal setting for everyday driving and the higher full load setting when carrying heavy luggage or a full complement of passengers.
  • Units — Pressures are shown in PSI, BAR, or both
  • Tyre size — The sticker may reference the specific tyre size the pressures apply to

How to use it

Match the tyre size on the sticker to the tyres fitted on your vehicle. Set your pressures accordingly, using the normal load figure for daily driving. If you are about to load the car for a holiday or carry additional passengers, switch to the full load pressure for a safer, more comfortable drive.
