Ventus S1 Evo 3 (K127B) Tyres description & features

Hankook's Ventus S1 evo3 K127B is a BMW-tailored ultra-high-performance summer tyre that features an asymmetric tread design and a formulation of Aqua Pine for dry and wet performance. High-performance summer tyres are usually designed for dry conditions, but the K127B also has features that increase performance in wet conditions. The K127B has four main grooves that run vertically across the tyre and carry water from the tread. The larger block patterns that surround the edge of the tyre assist with creating a firmer outer edge to assist with cornering. The Ventus S1 evo3 also features a two-ply rayon carcass and a hybrid aramid belt that limit the tyre from growing and assist the tyre in keeping its shape and firmness as the speed of the vehicle increases.

The K127B is BMW star marked on the sidewall, which indicates that the tyre was designed for BMW and is not simply an aftermarket tyre. There are variations of the K127B that feature the HRS runflat construction to assist the vehicle if there is a pneumatic failure. According to their rating, these tyres are quiet, good on fuel, and handle adequately on wet surfaces. One tyre unfortunately created a dangerous bulge that needed to be replaced immediately. Because direct replacement wasn't an option, I was presented with a cheaper tyre that functions the same as one with wheel protection, thus, it has made me question my loyalty to Hankook.

Last summer, I bought some Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 tyres and they have been amazing. They have excellent grip in dry conditions and even stop quickly when the roads are wet, this is great motorway driving confidence. They won't give you confidence at all with grip in the wet on cornering though, but for day-to-day driving, they are good enough. They are so quiet on long trips, use fuel wisely and the wear is looking good. The price is such a bonus - way cheaper than Michelins or Continentals but nearly just as good. I've saved quite a bit. Good option if you're not doing track days every weekend.

These tyres maintain good grip on the road in the rain. I've just driven over 250 miles in terrible Scottish weather and their A rating held up. They corner very well and have good steering. The ride is a bit firm, but it's nothing too serious. They're also quiet and I've had good fuel economy.

I just fitted these tyres on the front, and they were great with the wet weather we had in Nov/Dec 25. There is a big drop in road noise compared to the old NK tyres. I haven't tried them on icy/snowy roads yet, but if they do well, I'll for sure buy again.
