The Hankook iON FlexClimate SUV tyre is the first all-season tyre for electric SUVs based on the challenges of the increased weight of batteries and the instantaneous torque from electric motors. It features a directional V-shaped tread with slush and water clearing grooves that open from the centre to the outer edge of the tread. Acceleration, braking and cornering are supported by the interlocking of the tread blocks, and the 3D GripKontrol Sipes. The ProMileage compound by Hankook manages the impact of the weight and torque of electric SUVs by optimising the rubber compound with a higher silica content.
Electric vehicles are generally quieter, so tyre cavity noise is more noticeable. Hankook addresses this by applying the i Sound Absorber foam to the inner liner of the iON FlexClimate SUV tyre. The sidewall is marked with the M+S and 3PMSF markings. The 3PMSF marking indicates that the tyre meets the recognised snow grip standard.
