Advan Sport V107 Tyres description & features

The Yokohama ADVAN Sport V107 is an ultra-high-performance summer tyre that incorporates an original-equipment design for Mercedes-Benz and BMW. It features a high-silica tread compound that is effective for summer driving on relatively dry roads (over 7 deg C). The V107 tyre incorporates an asymmetric tread design with 4 major grooves that run in a front-to-back direction with ribs to assist in maintaining stability for straight-line driving. The outer edge design features larger and more rigid blocks to assist in maintaining the shape of the tyre whilst cornering.

The Yokohama ADVAN Sport V107 is the successor to the ADVAN Sport V105 in Yokohama’s range of performance tyres. Some of the V107 tyres feature the MO1 marking on the side wall which is the mark of approval for Mercedes-Benz, while some are equipped with the star mark of BMW. This indicates that these tyres were manufactured to the specifications of Mercedes-Benz and BMW and were not just manufactured to fit the respective cars. I have experience with these, and I can definitely say that these tyres work well in both wet and dry conditions. It gives me confidence while driving. However, it is noticeable that these tyres perform worse in extremely cold and frosty conditions.

I think the reason they can sometimes lose grip in the rain might be more to do with the car's front-wheel drive than the tyres. I had them on my four-wheel drive and they were trustworthy.

G87 BMW M2. These are an upgrade from the original Pirelli PZero tyres on the car and are good value for money. They may not perform as well as the Continental SC7's but I only had those on my previous car, the F87 M2C.

I've recently changed the tyres on my Lexus RX450. I had fitted Yokohama tyres on the front and it changed the handling quite a bit. After that, I put them on the back, got a new Pirelli Scorpion for the front, and used one of the old back tyres. Now all the Yokohamas are completely worn, and I've replaced them with Pirellis to be consistent with the front ones. I was a big fan of the Yokohama tyres on my other cars, but they are not great for a heavy hybrid vehicle.

Do not buy these tyres, awful. After only 8,000 miles, mine needed to be replaced because they were already worn out. I contacted the company and they took back the tyres to inspect them. It took two months for them to conclude there was no fault in the manufacture, so no refund. For what I paid, I consider 8,000 miles far too little. They were definitely not budget tyres. Costing £800 for the set, they should have lasted at least twice as long.

Amazing sports tyres! My car's rear axle has 329 bhp and these tyres are impressive. I had Continental Sport Contact 7s which were good, but I think these Yokohamas are just as good and they are cheaper.
