The Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D features a directional 'V' shaped tread pattern, and is built to preserve winter steering response on wet, slushy and snowy roads. At the centre of the tread, Dunlop's 4D Sipe System places slits which, as the tyre rotates, form small blocks that slush and snow can sift into to provide and lock braking and cornering support. In addition, edge grooves carry slush and water away as the winter compound that makes the tyre remains flexible through the cold, allowing the rubber to stay in contact with the road.
Some of the tyre's variants feature Dunlop's RunOnFlat construction, which provide loss of pressure support for winter performance on compatible vehicles. The Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D was also the predecessor to the Dunlop Winter Sport 5. Tyres.co.uk stocks the RunOnFlat variants of the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 4D.
