History

A Korean tyre company that started life in Korea under a different name - "Chosun Tire Company" – Hankook tyres literally translates to ‘Korean Tyres’. The company was first founded in 1941 and then renamed in 1968, to reflect the brand it still exists as today.

With headquarters and manufacturing facilities all over the world, Hankook Tyres boasts a global presence, and is known for its balance between high turnover and quality testing results. Despite being regarded for a long time as a mid-range company against other tyre manufacturers, Hankook has risen to become a premium radial tyre manufacturer in the last ten years or so, owing to its vast sales and incredible approach to innovation through research and development.

As of now, Hankook is the preferred car tyres supplier for several vehicle makes and models with OE (original equipment) marking, including Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche vehicles. This, combined with Hankook’s varied range of tyres and promise of reliability on the road makes Hankook tyres a good option for drivers across the UK and beyond.

Hankook Tyres Position on the Market

Hankook tyres boasts an extensive range of tyres to suit different vehicle needs, with products for 4x4 vehicles and SUV tyres, truck tyres, passenger car tyres, and options for electric vehicles. A quick look at the collection of Hankook tyres available unlocks the careful balance of performance and balance, with three areas of focus which span sustainability, driving experience, and intelligence.

Hankook is an excellent example of a brand that leans into high-quality tyre technology, with several of Hankook’s leading collections using unique technology to tap into different markets. One of the most notable is the iON tyre range, which is designed for electric vehicles and supports high performance EVs. The Ventus Prime 4 and Ventus V12 Evo2 tyres are Hankook’s solution to high performance racing vehicles and motorsports cars, while the Kinergy collection of tyres are designed to withstand the changing needs of each vehicle all-year-round. The Kinergy Eco 2 tyres are one of Hankook’s sustainable options, while the RA28E tyres minimise both rolling resistance and road noise for touring vehicles and caravans.

With such a diverse pool of customers located all around the globe, Hankook tyres also produces leading tyres for summer and winter driving, with Hankook’s Dynapro tyres another specific collection built for off-road and 4x4 driving while the i*cept tyres and i*pike tyres are both high-performance tyre collections which belong in the winter tyres category.

As the climate transitions from summer through to winter and back again, drivers must choose between dedicated seasonal tyres and versatile all-season tyres. The latter exist in the Hankook tyre collection as being able to perform and adapt to changing weather conditions and road surfaces – from wet and dry summer roads to wintery roads coated in ice. For UK drivers in particular, all-season tyres are often the most cost effective choice and can be used year-round due to our temperate climate.

Some of the top Hankook all-season tyres include the endlessly versatile Dynapro AT2 Xtreme tyres for all terrains, the iON FlexClimate tyres for electric passenger cars and SUVs, and the Kinergy 4S 2 tyre range.

Hankook has also developed a range of summer tyres that offer the flexibility of being able to navigate wet and dry surfaces with ease and safety, dispelling surface water and providing low rolling resistance even in high temperatures. The Vantra LT Transit tyres are the best summer option for commercial vehicles and vans, while regular drivers can opt for the Ventus S1 Evo3 tyres, Ventus Prime2 tyres, iON GT tyres, or the Dynapro HPX tyres.

The winter tyre range from Hankook is developed with leading grip, across passenger cars, commercial vehicles, vans, and EVs. The Winter i*Cept tyre range is built with optimised tread which ensures good grip and a stable balance across the vehicle on even the most challenging of surfaces. Meanwhile, the rubber compound used to produce these winter tyres is pliable enough that it provides a certain degree of flexibility in cold conditions.

Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 (K127)

The original tyres on our 2025 Mini Countryman hybrid only lasted 13,000 miles, and we understand from other owners that these cars can be quite harsh on tyres, with an average tyre life of 10,000 to 15,000 miles. We drive around 16,000 miles a year, so we wanted to get tyres that would last longer. We have used Hankook tyres on other cars and found them to be durable, plus they were less expensive than the other options, so it was a logical choice. These tyres have far better grip than the originals in every kind of weather condition, and the ride is smooth and comfortable, and very quiet. Our mini phone app says that we have fuel consumption the us better than 5 to 10% than other Mini Countryman owners.

Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 (K127)

These tyres are a good deal. My car is front wheel drive and I have had to use a bunch of budget tyre brands in emergencies because of tread wear and punctures. The new tyres are performing great and the car feels new again - the old Michelins were well past their prime. These new tyres feel more alive and have way better grip. I would suggest Hankook to my friends and use them again.

Hankook Vantra Transit (RA58)

You get a great balance of comfort and durability with these van tyres. They drive well in a range of conditions and I feel safer while driving. They do have some road noise but overall they are great.
