Rolling resistance has a direct impact on fuel consumption. A tyre's rolling resistance score ranges from A to E.
A tyre's wet grip capacity is expressed in Grades from A to E. The difference in braking distances between each grade is roughly 3m - an average car length.
The exterior noise grade of a tyre is expressed in decibels and accompanied by an external rolling noise rating - ranging from A (least exterior noise) to C (highest level of noise).
These tyres have been specifically designed for fitment and use on cars.
Hankook's Ventus S1 Evo 2 (K117) is a Summer ultra high performance tyre that features a unique outer rib that holds grip as it wears. Called a 3-layer block design by Hankook, the K117 uses a stepped block construction that makes multiple layers of block edges. The outer edges are therefore tangent with new block edges as the tyre wears. High-grip silica is a gummy compound that is used in both the wet and dry sides of the tyre and is complemented with high-density rayon that boosts sidewall stiffness for better cornering and steering response. An added steel belt system beneath the tread aids in high speed stability with the threat of tread separation at high speeds.
MO (Mercedes Benz) and BMW star marked versions of the tyre are built to spec with these car manufacturers. Retaining the marker on a replaced tyre retains the specified fitment. The K117 has been replaced with the K127 model. Tyres.co.uk supplies the standard, as well as the runflat HRS versions, of the K117 model.
