What is tyre sealant?
Tyre sealant refers to a liquid material that is injected into the tyre through the valve stem. It coats the inner side of the tyre and can temporarily seal small punctured holes to enable the driver to reach a garage.
Limitations
- Only works for small punctures found in the tread area
- It will not work for big holes, rips or sidewall damage
- It will not permanently fix the problem
- The tyre still needs to be corrected by a professional as soon as possible.
Instead of a spare wheel, many modern cars are supplied with a sealant and compressor kit.
