Can I drive with a flat tyre?

Driving on a flat tyre

No. Driving on a flat tyre is extremely dangerous, and can cause irreversible damage to the wheel rim, complicating the problem and making repairs more costly.

What to do instead

  • If you have one, use your spare wheel
  • If the puncture is suitable, use your tyre puncture repair kit
  • Call roadside assistance

Exception: run flat tyres

If your vehicle has run flat tyres you may carry on driving at a reduced speed (up to 50 mph) for a limited distance (up to 50 miles) to get to a garage.
