How do I manage a slow puncture safely?

Dealing with a slow puncture

Immediate steps

  1. Check for visible objects such as nails or screws in the tread. If you find one, do not remove it as it is helping to seal the hole and slow the air loss.
  2. Inflate the tyre to the correct pressure.
  3. Drive carefully to a nearby garage for a professional inspection. Avoid motorways and high speeds if possible.

If losing air quickly

If the tyre is losing air rapidly and cannot hold pressure, do not drive on it. Use your spare wheel, tyre repair kit, or call roadside assistance.
