How do I use a tyre puncture repair kit?

Using a tyre puncture repair kit

Many modern cars come with a puncture repair kit instead of a spare wheel. Here is how to use one.

Step by step

  1. Remove the valve cap from the flat tyre
  2. Attach the sealant bottle to the tyre valve and inject the sealant
  3. Connect the compressor to the valve and inflate the tyre to the correct pressure
  4. Drive slowly (below 30 mph) for a few miles to allow the sealant to spread inside the tyre
  5. Stop and recheck the pressure after 10 minutes. Top up if needed.

Important

This is a temporary repair only. Visit a garage as soon as possible to have the tyre properly inspected. Sealant repairs are not effective for large punctures, sidewall damage, or tyres that have been driven on flat.
