How do I know my tyres are safe?
Checking your tyres are safe
Regular checks are the best way to ensure your tyres remain safe. Three things to check every month:
1. Tread depth
Use the 20p test or a tread depth gauge. The legal minimum is 1.6mm, but 3mm is the recommended replacement point for better wet braking performance.
2. Tyre condition
Inspect the sidewalls and tread for cracks, bulges, cuts or embedded objects such as nails or screws. Any of these can compromise the tyre's structural integrity.
3. Tyre pressure
Check pressure at least once a month when the tyres are cold. Use the pressures recommended by your vehicle manufacturer, found on the door frame sticker or in the handbook.
Every tyre sold on Tyres.co.uk meets UK legal requirements and is matched to your vehicle using verified fitment data.
