Improved grip at the front.

You will see 295/35 R22 as standard on high-performance SUVs, including BMW's X5 M and X6 M. The figures are simple enough. 295 means the tyre width in millimetres. 35 is the sidewall as a percentage of the width giving 103mm (i.e. 35% of 295mm). R22 refers to a radial tyre on a 22-inch rim with an overall diameter of 765mm. These SUVs are designed for performance, and so have a staggered tyre set-up.
