Bridgestone Turanza T005

These tyres work great no matter the season. Although they may come at a higher price, selecting a cheaper option would usually lead to more frequent replacements.

Yokohama Advan Sport V105

I've tried these tyres before and they've been great in both hot and cold, wet conditions. They provide as much grip as Michelin and give a comfortable ride. The only downside now is that they don't have 'Yokohama' written in big letters on the side wall of the tyre anymore.

It's pretty simple to understand. 285 is the width of the tyre in millimetres. 35 is the aspect ratio which is 35% of 285mm and comes out to 100mm. R22 shows this is a radial tyre that sits on a 22-inch rim, giving an overall diameter of 758mm. This makes it possible for a 22-inch wheel to be used without increasing the diameter.
