Should I rotate my tyres during fitting?
Tyre rotation during fitting
Tyre rotation means moving tyres between wheel positions to help even out wear patterns over time.
When rotation helps
On front-wheel-drive cars, the front tyres tend to wear faster because they handle both steering and driving forces. Rotating them to the rear periodically can extend overall tyre life.
When rotation is not recommended
- Directional tyres can only be rotated front to back on the same side, not cross-rotated
- If you have different sizes front and rear (staggered fitment), rotation is not possible
- Some vehicle manufacturers advise against rotation in their handbook
If you are interested in rotation, mention it to your fitter when you arrive. They can advise based on your specific tyre type and vehicle.
