The Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 is a summer tyre with an ultra-high-performance rating. It features a silica tread compound designed for use on wet roads. It also has 4 wide drainage grooves that carry moisture from the tyre/rubber road interface. When it rains heavily drainage grooves carry the moisture away from road contact. The asymmetric tyre tread pattern has large exterior blocks of tread and fine slits throughout the tread.

The slit design creates traction on wet roads. The sidewall of the KU39 has been reinforced to support the tread when the tyres are under the lateral stress of a directional change. The KU39 has been replaced by the Ecsta PS71 in the Ecsta summer road use performance line. Tyres.co.uk has the Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 for sale.

While fuel efficiency is comparable, rolling resistance is considerably different. As for me, I feel more stability and connection to the road. Given Scotland's country roads, this is important for safety.

I see that the tyre pressure on both new front tyres is incorrect. They should both be at 38psi, but one is 33psi and the other one is 45psi!

Even when the tyres are properly inflated, the sidewalls still may look like they aren't. Not sure how the edges will take when cornering, because this kind of edge wear is common with low pressure. Very concerned!

My car used to have budget tyres at the front, but since changing to these Kumho tyres, driving has extremely improved. Have not tried them in wet conditions yet, but I expect they will perform better than the old ones.

The tyres have good performance. However, I think the sidewalls are a bit too soft for my car's recommended pressures. I noticed understeer at different speeds, even at slow speeds. The steering also felt sluggish. It seems increasing the pressure by 4 psi solved all of these. Tyres also feel secure at higher pressure, are quiet, and look good. I would recommend buying them on discount.
