History

Hilo tyres was established in 1994 and since then has become a reputable and high-value supplier of tyres for all seasons, road surfaces, journeys and terrains.

Just some of the accolades that Hilo tyres hold include its use of nano technology in tyre production which enhances fuel efficiency, and the complex tread patterns that ensure each tyre is perfectly suited to its terrain. The innovation of the Hilo brand, and its exposure to leading research and development through Xingyuan Tire Group ownership, means that tyres may not cost the same as premium brands like Michelin and Continental, but they benefit from many of the same concepts and improvements in sustainability, stability, and durability.

Hilo’s Position on the Tyre Market

Hilo Tyres is a mid-range brand that’s popular with drivers for offering accessible prices alongside its quality design and the diversity of the range. Because Hilo tyres are made to keep different vehicles moving through a wide range of terrains and climates, the versatility of the range is another positive attribute – catering to different driver styles and vehicle needs.

The fact that Hilo produces tyres for off-road trucks and machinery as well as road cars and SUVs means that both the construction and tread patterns are advanced. The brand has become increasingly prolific over the past few years, as its range has expanded to encompass more patterns and tyre sizes to meet different driver needs.

Finally, Hilo tyres are, like many premium brands including Bridgestone and Pirelli, tested in real-world environments – exposing tyres to variable climates and temperatures as well as different terrains and road surfaces.

Popular Hilo Tyre Models and Collections

As you browse the Hilo Tyres range, you will notice that many of its most popular tyres are geared towards specific seasons and driving conditions. Despite Hilo producing an all-season range, it’s the core features of its summer and winter tyres that ensure each tyre is perfectly matched with the conditions it is driving in.

The Hilo Vantage XU1 tyre is one of the top selling quality tyres from Hilo, noted for its dry performance and well-balanced wet grip. The Hilo Genesys XP1 is another popular summer model which easily dispels surface water and navigates both wet and dry conditions, while notable models like the Hilo XT1 X-Terrain are more versatile all-season models for changeable environments.

Among the top rated Hilo tyres, it’s also worth acknowledging the industry reputation of its off-road truck and radial tyres. These models are chunky and built to last, and perfectly navigate quarries, building sites, and agricultural tasks. Tyres like the Hilo B01N model and BDTS model are excellent OTR tyres.

Browsing the Hilo Catalogue by Season
Wondering where to start your search? Armed with tyre size and specification, one of the easiest places to start is usually with your seasonal preference – that is, whether you would prefer an all-season tyre with advanced versatility, or a tyre that’s built for a specific season. Hilo is particularly reputable with those seeking winter tyres, though the all-season range is popular among UK drivers who can benefit from the convenience of a single tyre that suits year-round driving in the temperate UK climate.
All-season tyres are built to withstand the changing conditions from summer through to winter, managing surface water and ice as well as dry roads. Hilo produces a range of car tyres for all-season driving, including the Hilo XT1 X-Terrain tyre, with other models like the Hilo Sport XV1 offering mixed season and mixed terrain support.

Summer tyres offer a balance between dry and wet grip, with the added strength of reinforced sidewalls which support the weight of the vehicle and its load index in warm conditions. Hilo has a diverse collection of summer tyres which bridge performance with touring and long distance comfort, and sustainability. Models include the Hilo Genesys XP1, the Hilo XU1 Vantage, and the Hilo Green-Plus.

The best Hilo tyre from the winter range is the Hilo Arctic XS1. This tyre is available in a wide range of sizes and has the potent combination of deep grooves and chunky tread blocks which both offer flexibility on the roads while also boosting traction and grip. Winter tyres require safety and pliability, with SUV tyres able to navigate on- and off-road ice and snow, while road tyres need the grip for smooth potentially icy surfaces.

5/5

Hilo Genesys XP1

Initially, I was doubtful regarding the value of this tyre since it was very cheap, but it ended up being a good purchase. We put them on the back wheels of my Suzuki which is front-wheel-drive, and they are wearing down quite evenly; less so if it was the front. They perform quite well in heavy rain and are about as average in snow as any other summer tyres. All in all, I am quite satisfied.

Hilo Genesys XP1

The quality of the tread is awful. They are not safe in the wet. The price reflects the quality of the product, but it is not worth compromising on safety.

Hilo Genesys XP1

Wonderful! I feel like I can drive more confidently in different weather and on different kinds of roads. The ride is noticeably smoother, and I am very happy. I had no idea how badly my car needed new tyres until I felt how they drove. Thank you to everyone involved.

Hilo Genesys XP1

The tyres are doing their job very well. I had a small problem with the front offside valve leaking. I went back to the local garage, and they fixed the valve. Excellent service, as always. Thanks.

Hilo Genesys XP1

Since the old ones needed to be swapped out, I had these tyres fitted to my 1975 HJ Holden ute to pass inspection. These tyres are very cheap, so I expected to perform the minimum of getting the vehicle back on the road. To my surprise, they far exceeded my expectations. Driving the vehicle is completely different, and feels like a new car. No matter the speed, the tyres offer safety and comfort, even great handling in the wet and dry. The steering is positioned well, and there is confidence built with a little road noise. What started as a necessary purchase has been one of the best value purchases I've made. I would purchase these again in a heartbeat, and recommend them to people looking for cheap tyres, as their performance, comfort and quality is amazing for the price.
