Vantage XU1 Tyres description & features

The Hilo Vantage XU1 is a UK tailored summer tyre that boasts excellent performance on normal UK roads. When designing the Vantage XU1, Hilo used broad circumferential grooves that direct water away from the tread. Faster drying of the tread increases the tyre's braking performance and cornering traction. At high speeds, the motorway’s airflow is supported by the solid centre of the tread. The tread also supports the tyre's outer blocks while the water is displaced from the tread.

The tread design supports the even distribution of pressure and the wear of the tyre. The Vantage XU1 was designed for higher temperature commuting and long distance travel. Our range at Tyres.co.uk features the Hilo Vantage XU1.

It has been several months since these tyres were fitted on the car, and they have proven to be a great choice. They have good performance in wet and dry conditions. They are also quiet and comfortable. Very happy.

These tyres have poor grip. It's especially noticeable on wet roads. The inner edges especially are wearing more than the rest. I suppose that might be caused by a wheel alignment issue. The car feels unstable in the wet when accelerating and especially at roundabouts. For less experienced drivers, these tyres are dangerous because my traction control really struggles with them. They were very cheap, but if I could, I would have replaced them the first time it rained. Grip on dry roads is about average, and I'm not too sure about braking distance because I usually start slowing down from a distance. These tyres really don't help the reputation of the garage.

This car will primarily be used for my daily commute in the city, and drives to the beach during the summer since it's a convertible. The tyres are wearing evenly and I have not had any issues with the brakes or steering. For a budget tyre, they are doing well, however, if you do a lot of driving, it may be worth spending money on a more expensive set.
